The mum behind Hiccups & Hyperfocus
I'm a mum living in an ADHD household. My husband and daughter both have ADHD; I don't. I'm a highly structured, neat freak, which makes for some interesting moments when the rest of the house operates on an entirely different frequency!
I started Hiccups & Hyperfocus because living in an ADHD family can feel surprisingly lonely. ADHD finds its way into so many parts of everyday life and sometimes you just want to talk to someone who gets it.
I wanted to create a place where we can talk honestly about family life with ADHD, share what we're learning, be open about the hard days and remind each other that we're not the only ones figuring it all out.
I'm also passionate about how we understand and support our children. They hear so much about what they need to do better, but how often do we stop and ask what we could do differently to help them? They deserve to be understood and to have adults around them who are willing to look beyond the behaviour and understand what's really going on.
Here, you'll find a bit of everything... the realities of parenting, marriage and family life with ADHD. I'm still figuring plenty of it out myself. This is about sharing the journey, learning from each other and finding people who understand.
Our children need a village and so do we.
Beyond the blog, I create spaces for the conversations I wish more of us were having about ADHD family life, parenting and the essential household support surrounding our children. Through keynote talks and workshops for schools, parents and communities, I share lived experience, practical insight and honest conversations designed to build understanding and connection, particularly between home and school.
